1. First Day
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! Our first day back is at 8:45 am. This is a with noon dismissal. All the JICS teachers are busy setting up their spaces for the new year and are eager to see the children!
All JICS parents are members of the JICS Parents’ Association. The PA provides resources that extend the learning of the students and fosters parent engagement in the school community. We are looking forward to working with the new PA Executive. They have been hard at work planning a beautiful informal reception in the school for to meet and mingle with some delicious wine and cheese on Tuesday, September 10, 6:00-8:00 pm. Free babysitting will be provided. Registration info coming soon.
3. Street Parking Change
The parking in front of the school has new signage from the City of Toronto (see photo below). It is a NO-STANDING area from 8:30-8:45am (during Kiss-and-Ride). 10-minute parkingis allowed for most of the school day making it easier for caregivers who are parking and dropping off or picking up their child.
4. Hot Lunch Program
Hot lunch by The Lunch Mom https://www.thelunchmom.com will be available Monday to Friday, beginning on Monday, September 9. The Lunch Mom website is currently being updated and will be ready by the end of the week for registration.
Registration information will be available for download on our website at the end of the week. Nancy, in the school office, welcomes the forms beginning September 4 at 8:00 am.
6. New Blog Format
Thank you for your feedback about how to make the school’s communication more effective. The JICSfamily.com blog is our primary means of communication. This year, we will use this “numbered” format to identify the content of the posting so that parents can identify information in the posting that is relevant to them. Also, once the school year commences, we aim to post a new blog each Thursday afternoon.
