1. Winter Break & January Start Date

We wish everyone a holiday that is safe, happy, and restful. The Fall Term ends today at noon. Daycare is open to registered users until 6:00pm.

Happy Hanukkah! Merry Christmas! Happy Kwanzaa! Happy New Year!

Thank you all for your kindness, support, and encouragement.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday, January 4, 2021. Should there be a ministerial order to change our return date into the building, we will email parents during the holidays.

Please refer to Toronto Public Health's Holiday Guide to help ensure our safe return to school in January: https://www.toronto.ca/home/covid-19/covid-19-reopening-recovery-rebuild/covid-19-reopening-information-for-the-public/covid-19-holiday-guide/

Here is what TPH says about social gatherings:

  • Staying home is the best way to protect yourself and your family.

  • Talk with your family and let them know it is okay to skip family gatherings this year.

  • Do not visit other households or accept visitors into your home.

  • Do not have play dates or sleepovers for your kids.

  • Do not have in-person holiday gatherings and events at work. Consider virtual events to celebrate the holidays with co-workers.

2. New Parent Education Event - Jan 21

Powering down, a digital fog, or igniting curiosity? Ways to support children's use of technology

Join us on January 21st for a talk on technology, social media and child development with Dr. Alexandra Makos, faculty member in the Applied Psychology and Human Development Department, OISE, University of Toronto. Read more about this event, Dr. Makos, and RSVP by visiting our events page.

3. Family Festival of Lights Holiday Sing Recording!

Thank you to all who tuned in to last night's annual Family Festival of Lights! Thank you to our hosts, Richard and Chriss, our music teachers, Russell and Suzanne, our tech duo, Nick and Tory, and all of the JICS staff and students for your contributions.

If you missed this event or wish to watch it again over the holidays, you can view it anytime using the same live-stream link: https://youtu.be/OuK0injw7SE

4. Drumroll please...

Thank you JICS community for bringing in 1,288 lbs worth of goods for the Food Drive! In case you were wondering, that's about as heavy as 3 and a half male reindeer, or 850,000,000 grains of sugar!

A huge thank you to our Grade 6 class for their leadership!
